The caste system of past initially was a total merit-based social structure on the basis of work.a brahmin child who was disinterested in studies could become shudra & vice versa. The purohit clan linked it to birth. The so-called dirty jobs are meaningless in Europe with technological advancement. So shall be in India. I KNEW ABOUT CASTE-SYSTEM ONLY IN CLASS 12 WHEN I CAME TO KNOW ABOUT QOUTA SYSTEM FOR SEAT ALLOCATION.

Regarding Sweet Revenge

Dear Friend
Our democracy had given equal right to all citizen according to it we all are One united indian. It is worthless to provide reservation in the name of Caste, Sex or Religion to any indivisual or communicity. Where the development an indivisual is concern TALENT dont need reservation. The best example is Dr B R Ambedkar & Mr. DILIP TIRKEY (former Captain Indian Hockey) had never availed any reversation to grow in their life.

We have to think about people who are suffering in life due to lack of finance not in the name of caste >>>>>

My dear friend,
I would like to counter your first statement " Personally, I feel that since God has made us equal", yes I do agree upon that. Then the question arises as to -

  1. Why was the caste system first of all imposed in History, if "God has made us equal"?
  2. Why were the Shudras (as you call us) were made to do all the dirty jobs, if "God has made us equal"?
  3. Why were we kept out of the city and deprived of education, if "God has made us equal"?
Ask these basic questions to your elite community and if you truly get those answered then you might think reservation is our right and accept that wholeheartedly.

@ Poonam ji...

The caste system was introduced so that work could be divided among people...Those people never had in mind that a shudra is of low caste...i am talking of "THE PAST",and not the times in medieval INDIA..Even the shudras themselves never considered their work to be menial...
And why do you question that the shudras were deprived of education?? Even the kshatriyas never got education, they were only taught the art archery, the brahmins were taught just the vedas and all this was taught to them by their own elders and not any colleges.... << How can you say that...!?! Are you alive since past 10,000 years or punarjanm liya hai aur aapko pichle janam ki baatein abhi bhi yaad hai...!?!

Do you think the word "REVENGE" makes reservation an easy thing to digest for this country??? << Forget about the past... Do you have any answer or resolution for the DISCRIMINATION in the name of caste at PRESENT in SOCIETY...!?! Are you sure that there is no DISCRIMINATION in the name of caste in any corner of our country...!?!

If your answer is YES then come start removing the Reservation system... Before that, can you give me a chance to prove that still there is DISCRIMINATION...!?!

If caste is main reason for the Reservation System then let us remove CASTE from our society... There shouldn't be any Last names like Sharma, Varma, Reddy, Ayer, Singh, Khan, Ambhani whetever it is... Only & only names... Like Poonam, Raghav, Shah Rukh, Ranbir... No last names which indicates the Caste... Whats say...!?!

All the land lords in villages and small towns belong to upper castes and have occupied many lands & cultivating it.... From where the hell these people got so many lands...!?! Did god "pratyaksh hoke" presented them in their PAAAST...!?! Many lower caste people are working under them as slaves... Can we forget the PAST and share all these lands among all EQUALLY... Which is actually happening in Anna ji 's Ralegan Siddhi village.. Isn't it fair...!?!

Recently, in Karnataka, politicians named "Gaali brothers" [with the help of ex & late Cheap (I can't call him chief) Minister of Andhra Pradesh & his son] occupied many lands for illegal mining... Thousands of Girijans were forcibly moved from there & they are homeless now... Its not new... This is happening since centuries... Do you have any solution for them and all such situations happend in the past, happening at present and may happen in future...!?!

I still have many such examples and lot more questions to be asked... But let me know your maturity levels and social awareness first...

Waiting for the answers and solutions from the "Heroes of AntiReservation"

practicle & acceptable...

Dear Friends,

I wonder if the question of reservation is as simple as just having two facets - eiethr provide or abolish. I will tell you the ground reality of my village where i have grown. India got her independence some 60 odd years back and literacy and education has gone up from a mere 1 % in 1901 to 10 % in 1951 and 75 % approximately in 2011. However, when i try to analyse the plight of lower strata of our society, i find still they are uneducated, barely literate now (get dropped out after middle class) and have not been able to take the benefit of reservation. Only 3 students from SC have made it to graduation and out of that 2 dropped it in graduation due to financial strain. One moved ahead but didn't get a respectable job.

During life, as my aspiration gone, i countered many people of SC community who are undeserving and still benefiting out of reservation system. One of my friend was son of commissioner of Bombay Municipal Corporation (BMC) and still got the reservation benefit. At the same time, i observed that many people of so called upper-caste badly disadvantaged due to financial strain and coulddn't afford to give education to their child.

These two contrasting examples bring light on paradoxical nature of reservation system. As being Indian, i do feel that, if a significant population of india are kept outside the development and growth aura, it will create dissonance in longer term (even in shorter term, we are witnessing in the form of naxalism) and hamper the growth of India as a nation. So somehow, we have ethical responsibility to bring back this disadvantageous section of society in to mainstream to create a harmonious environment for growth with equity else nation may run in civil war sometime. Further, it may be observed that village-schooling system is far away to enthuse those traits and skill which are required by say an IIM.

How can we really identify the disadvantaged section? That is a subject of brainstorming . But multiple factor comes - Place of upbringing, Education medium, Parents education, Parents monthly income, Caste, Gender etc

So, i am an advocate of affirmative action based on multiple factors in which caste is just one factor. Comprehensively multiple factors could be decided and weight can be assigned to each. Reservation entitlement and extent both must be based on these multiple factors.
Pr. Purushottam Agrawal, UPSC member and former Prof. at JNU made an humble attempt in designing such multi-factor based reservation system. His views can be accessed from here -

Tehelka - The People's Paper

PS: It may be noted down that i do not belong to disadvantaged section and views are purely unbiased.
Dear Mr. Sanjai Rai,

Your views regarding Reservation, are highly acceptable, practicle & yes unbiased. I appreciate your social awareness. People here are in so much hurry that they want everything to happen OVER NIGHT.. They don't have enough social awareness.. They might not have exposure to the rural conditions or pretending so, as to get quick solution to such a critical issue.

Anna ji, Kiran ji & Arvind ji will definitely agree with your views...

Thanks & Regards,

Raghav

Reservation or no reservation?

True, there have been innumerable instances of mistakes and atrocities committed by the strong on the weak. Those on the side of victims have reasons to feel aggrieved. Some of them may also be filled with a rage and may seek to take revenge. The moot point is--should reservation be the tool to strike them with if this does not lead to improving the overall quality of the nation? If reservation were really panacea for all ills perpetrated by the strong on the weak, it should have resolved many of the problems India faces today including corruption. Because the reservation has stayed on for more than six decades when it was intended to be in operation for just ten years. There is need to think and ask whether it is serving the purpose it was intended to serve by the constitution builders (such a huge constitution can only be built, not made). If yes, continue by all means. But if not, please call it a day.

No reservation... Whats next...!?!

Okay... Let us assume that all reservations are removed NOW... By how many years from now, can you guarantee me your IDEAL EQUAL SOCIETY...!?!
What are the practical steps you can suggest to stop the DISCRIMINATION & for the EQUALITY, not only in Metros, cities but also in Small towns & villages.

If CBI, ACB & other such departments which are appointed only & only to control the corruption, which have failed; do you think that all such departments should be closed.?What reservations have to do with the corruption directly. Is everyone working in CBI/ACB are from lower castes.

Apart from that, how many from the unreserved candidates, who completed their graduation/post graduation, are contributing for the equality, developement of the nation. How many degrees does Anna ji have and what about Mr. Manmohan Singh & Mr.Chitambaram.

I guarantee you that the day when there is equality in all respects in every corner of the country then that would be the last day for all sorts of reservations. Can you guarantee me the same, that if today reservations are stopped, you can have equality in the next 1 year or 5 yrs. or 10 yrs.?

The only real barrier between one set of people and the other set of people is the gap between the haves and the have-nots. All other barriers are flimsy, absurd and erected in order to provide a smoke screen to obfuscate the 'real' gap referred to. And for this, corruption, corruption, corruption alone is responsible. And for God's sake do not think corruption relates only to bribe and underhand dealings. If u buy 1000 square feet of land and build your house on 1200 square feet of land, there is corruption of most despicable kind because this alone creates a massive problem of encroachment. We all know what it leads to and how our country is beset with the problem of encroachment in all our cities and villages. These questions basically relate to our character, not to the policies of reservation. Just as there is no guarantee against or in favour of our character and personal integrity which incidentally do not depend on our caste or social standing, there cannot be any guarantee against the wrongs practised by the society unless we decide to correct ourselves.

right to become smart

These so-called dalit communities want to abolish caste system and love to avail all the benefits on the basis of caste. How smart they have become?
Dear Vinay Kumarji,

While it is open for anyone to try and become smart (it is not the prerogative of any particular community/ies), you are right that one cannot both eat the cake and have it too. But is that what being actually attempted? This question needs to be examined with some seriousness without any hint of frivolity.

Mr. Hero Of Anti Reservation...

You have a typical political brain... It is better for the society if you can stop using your brain & start thinking from your HEART...

I said, remove the caste system as well as reservation system AT A TIME... When there is no caste, there won't be any need to reservations... Other solution is, keep caste system as is it & bring EQUALITY IN ALL RESPECTS all over the country...

Do you have any solution / answer / views / obstacles...!?!
