Power attorney holders all

These people who are occupying the haloed chambers of parliament are there in their representative capacity. This fact was lost both on the representatives (MPs/MLAs) and on those who gave this representative powers to them. The result is--they have begun to lord over us as our masters when in fact they are only power of attorney holders. A power of attorney holder can never wield more power than the power giver. Our MPs and MLAs have begun to behave like feudal lords and we as their subjects. This is against the basic tenet of democracy. Even Nehru had committed this fallacy once. He was once accosted by a Calcuttan after India became independent and was asked as to what was the benefit to a common man on India becoming independent. To this Nehru had replied that 'you are able to talk to your prime minister in this way is the difference'. Obviously, Nehru was seeing himself as the ruler of the people when in fact he was the servant of the people because he was there because of the power of attorney we gave him. Was he a true democrat?
Anna has come on to the scene and corrected this by telling these parliamentarians and legislators that they are there in their representative capacity and it is incumbent upon them to behave like our representatives and not as our masters which they have been doing for the past 65 years. This needs to be fully understood that they are there only so long as they enjoy our pleasure and confidence just as a government occupies office during the pleasure of the president of the republic. The giver of power of attorney can withdraw that power anytime and the holders of such power cannot enjoy unlimited/unrestricted powers, especially if they use this power to the detriment of the interest of the power giver. Anna came to the scene because these representatives had begun to misuse the powers given to them and they had mistakenly come to believe that their powers were sacrosanct and unassailable. The power giver has the power to withdraw powers and this authority cannot be taken away from the power givers.
