Media has vested interests in creating controversies

The world cup kept them busy and they encahsed it to the hilt. Anna Hazare's movement gave them enough fodder to keep them going. Per chance they also served a cause--a noble cause at that in as much as they kept people duly informed and charged up. But now, with the government having fallen in line, the media needed a dead horse to keep flogging. They had their TRP to worry about. IPL wasn't doing much for them. People are overfed on cricket. They are cloyed. But the fight against corruption provided a constant supply of fodder. Committee was formed with prominent and largely acceptable persons. Some people including Baba Ramdev felt Kiran Bedi could also have been there, though it was not an issue with any one, not even with Baba Ramdev. It was an innocuous observation because a media person asked him. Instead of taking this remark on its face value, the media persons made it look like a controversial statement by saying that Baba was 'outraged' or was 'aggrieved' or things to that effect. If for a while Kiran Bedi or Swami Agnivesh were not seen on the pulpit, conclusions were drawn that they were upset or there was a division in ranks of the Civil Society when there was or is no such thing. Even the clarification of Baba Ramdev and Kiran Bedi was not put forth properly by the media persons simply because they want this to emerge as a controversy and people remain glued to their news channels and their TRP keeps rising. This is the worst side-effect of liberalization/globalization. People need to guard against this tendency of the media. They are selling their rotten wares at our cost. People who support Anna Hazare and his movement against corruption are satisfied that things are in good hands. Media needn't worry a great deal about it. In a press conference Anna Hazare appreciated the development works done by Nitish Kumar and Narendra Modi. Now media is out to create another controversy. Media is indeed a watchdog and fourth pillar. We the people should also watch out for the black sheep who are on the loose.

Long Live Anna Hazare

The man is great! He is a Mahatma, the true need for Mother India at this critical moment! He is the one who can protect India from its politicians 99.9% of whom are corrupt scoundrels and traitors. Every true Indian must support Anna Hazare.
