Our country is big and has high inertia. And effort to correct any problem will also be equally high and tough. For this we need majority of people to understand and join this movement. Problem to achieve this is that for most people flash point has not reached yet where they start to think of acting against something at the place of being mute viewerS. Till they do not feel and understand that the flash point is already there, drawing them to a long battle like this will be a task.

I agree that things have actually reached to a flash point but it may take more time for majority of people to understand this. The quicker they understand, better it will be for this anti corruption movement.

Media can play a vital role here but is busy airing news like which wife of Osama is shot in calf and of which leg. They will be more interested to know bio-data of each of Osama’s wives, kids, cook, neighbors etc. This will be continued till they get some other thing which can be converted into NEWS. Considering its penetration and reach, it is very necessary that media takes active role in educating people about Jan Lokpal Bill/development in drafting in the parliament/exposing the party or individual not supporting the bill/and the need of the bill for common citizen.

Majority of public still missing

I was not encouraged to see small size of Anna supporters on 1st May during Jantar Mantar to India Gate shanti march. I feel this site should look for ways to ensure that more and more people join such protest rallies. I saw more people resting leisurely in the lawns around India Gate than in the protest rally. A crowd of 2 or 3 thousand is not enough for deep impact needed to ensure drafting of strong Jan Lokpal Bill.

1. Organize small meeting, maybe on week-ends in different areas of city.
2. Arrange nukkad natak at crowded places,
3. Go for registration drive to attach more and more people to this anti corruption movement.
4. Need not to go to India Gate/Gateway of India/Maidan in Kolkata/.... every week but the buzz should keep on in small ways too. Try to make personal contact to pursue and educate people.
5. Contact FM radio channel to air similar views and appeal.

Announce on this site or send mail to all of us for any such method you are going to adopt, we are willing to be part of small local area level activities also.

Let us prepare for some time before we go for a big march again to India Gate or any important part of any city.

Angry Anna & team, are you listening?...

Yogesh,

You make very good points.

Part of the problem is that there aren't too many people who will take part in such rallies anyway, though they may not mind whiling away their time in parks, and in front of TVs. Many are fence sitters who will join when they see that there's already a huge crowd, and it's the in-thing to be "in".

But, yes, it's also true that sufficient effort has not been made to rope in even those who may join, with some communication and direction.

Without meaning to find fault with anyone, I feel the core team of Anna hasn't done enough on this. They have to nominate some volunteers headed by some popular person (like Kiran Bedi) to communicate through every possible means (including forums like this) to people like us who are willing to take part and even mobilize our like-minded friends.

I don't know if anyone is listening.

Regardless, it's our own cause and we'll do our best whether Anna & team understand the importance of multi-way communication with people like us or not. After all, they (Anna's team) are not professional mobilisers like politicians to understand the importance of communication, and may be they believe (???) they don't have enough resource persons for this.

Ganesan.

Post Lets wake up

Mr.Ganesan,

I was deeply impressed and encouraged by your knowledge & analysis. Specially in the thread by Bhargavi. I have used few parts of your writing like "Nothing can stop an idea whose time has come" or 'Big country tend to have high inertia....'etc in my posts. I hope you do not feel offended or cheated. Believe me, my only intention is to take these thoughts to more and more people, pull them closer to this movement.

I think if majority of people do not opt to join this movement, it will be very tough to keep it alive OR even keep the buzz on for long time. Then it will also not be able to put pressure in the drafting process of Lokpal Bill to ensure strong bill. Take a sample - all big cities are having population of approx 1crore+, suppose a protest rally is organised there. Even if only 0.5%(1 in every 200) of total population joins this rally, there should be 50,000 people at the venue. But this has not happened in rallies during last few days. Road is tough unless the participation is increased to bigger %age.

I agree that Anna's team or Kiran Bedi, they are not mobilizers like politicians. But if they call for resource persons for mass mobilization and other activities, I am sure response will be bigger than anyone’s expectation. People are willing to join but not finding ways to do this. Secondly, this will be too much of an expectation from Anna and his team. They have shaken us from deep sleep, now the job of mobilization and other arrangements should be taken care by IAC and other similar organisation(NGOs etc). Don't have seen active participation of NGOs in the movement till date. I don't know what is keeping them away from doing this.

This site too is having very few visitors every day. Growth rate also is slow. The hit count should at least run in lacs considering population in the country. IAC should look for bigger partcipation at this plateform. The situation is 'Now or Never' at the moment. If we lose this opportunity to uproot corruption now, next opportunity may not come in next 50 years. And then some Anna also may not be there to wake us up from deep sleep.

Dear Yogesh,

I completely agree with all your sentiments.

Please feel free to use any parts of any of my postings, without even referring to me. Neither am I big enough to claim ownership of my writings, nor have I written anything out of the ordinary. We're all tiny volunteers trying to help Anna in his lofty but tough mission. What is important is we should all communicate as much as possible, surely borrowing ideas and words from each other, as we don't have time or need enough to think original.

Ganesan. :~)

This seems to be a very old thread however we run a web development company and it would be a great pleasure for us if we can be helpful in providing any kind of assistance in managing the website and its contents.

Not just the website but we are with you to work with you at any stage of this movement. We want an honest and free India.
