National Institute of Homoeopathy, Block-GE, Sector-III, Salt Lake, Kolkata-700 106, an autonomous Institution under Department of AYUSH, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India, has invited applications from Indian Nationals for admission to the 5½ years Degree Course (including one year Compulsory Rotatory Internship) in Homoeopathy (BHMS) for the academic year 2010-11, at the National Institute of Homoeopathy, Kolkata, affiliated to the West Bengal University of Health Sciences.
Applicant should have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) or its equivalent examination with five subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English and obtained 50% marks in aggregate (45% marks for SC/ST) and should attain 17 years of age by 31st December 2010. Those who have appeared for Higher Secondary (10+2) may also apply subject to the publication of the result of their examination before the admission and securing of the required percentage of marks which has to be substantiated by production of documentary proof.

Blind (including colour blind), deaf, and/or dumb candidates are not eligible to apply for the course.

A total of 93 seats are available of which 14 seats are reserved for those nominated from Jammu and Kashmir (1), Manipur (1), Meghalaya (1), Mizoram (2), Nagaland (1), Sikkim (1), Tripura (2), Andaman and Nicobar Island (1), Dadra and Nagar Haveli (1), Daman and Diu (1), Lakshadweep (1) and Puducherry (1).* Six seats are reserved for Foreign Nationals of which 5 are for candidates from Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi Sectoral Technical & Economic Co-operation (BIMSTEC) countries nominated by Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Ministry of External Affairs, Azad Bhavan, Indraprastha Estate, New Delhi and 1 seat for Foreign National candidate under self-financing scheme nominated by the Department of AYUSH, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India. Ten seats are reserved for candidates sponsored by Govt. of Sri Lanka through the Dept. of AYUSH, Govt.of India. (If no candidates are sponsored by Govt. of Sri Lanka, these seats shall remain vacant; no other candidate will be admitted against these seats).

The remaining seats (63) will be filled through an All-India Admission Test of 3 hours duration to be held at Kolkata, New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Thiruvanthapuram and Bhopal on 6th June, 2010 (Sunday) and having 200 multiple choice types questions from Physics (60 questions), Chemistry (60), Biology (60) and General Knowledge (20). There will be negative marking for wrong answers.

In case the number of candidates opted for a particular centre are less, then the centres at Hyderabad, Thiruvanthapuram and Bhopal will be cancelled and the candidates will be allotted the nearest centre. Accordingly those who opt for Hyderabad, Thiruvanthapuram and Bhopal have to mention his/her 2nd choice of centre of examination from amongst Kolkata, New Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai.

Reservation including to those belonging to Orthopaedically challenged (OH)/OBC category will be made as per extant reservation instructions. Those who are desirous of availing such reservation facilities under OBC quota are required to enclose attested copy of their OBC certificate issued by appropriate authority along with a declaration that she/he does not belong to creamy layer of the society. Application (in candidate's own handwriting) is to be submitted on 3 A4 size paper (2 pages for the application Proforma and 1 page for the identification card) according to format given.

Filled application along with 4 identical copies of recent passport size (3.5 cm X 4.5 cm) colour photograph of the applicant [taken without spectacles and cap/hat, after 31st March, 2010 with a placard showing applicant's name and date of photo, with 2 copies pasted on the specified area on the application, which should be attested by a Gazetted Officer after pasting with part of signature on the photograph and part of signature on the application form and the other 2 signed on the reverse by the applicant kept separately] and a Bank Draft for Rs.500/- (SC/ST applicants need not submit any Bank Draft, but have to submit a copy of caste certificate attested by a Gazetted Officer along with the application), drawn in favour of Director, National Institute of Homoeopathy, payable at Kolkata, should reach 'The Office of the Director, National Institute of Homoeopathy, Block-GE, Sector-III, Salt Lake, Kolkata-700 106, latest by 30th April,2010.

Admit Card and Prospectus will be sent by post.

List of candidates with their Roll numbers and Centres will also be available at http://www.nih.nic.in in due course.

The result of Admission Test will be published by 28th June, 2010. Counselling and Admission will be on 12th & 13th July, 2010.
