IGNOU is a Central University established by an Act of Parliament in 1985 (Act No. 50 of 1985). IGNOU Degrees/Diplomas/Certificates are recognised by all the members of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and are recognised at par with Degrees/Diplomas/Certificates of all Indian Universities/Deemed Universities/Institutions vide UGC Circular No. F. 1-52/2000 (CPP-II) dated 5th May 2004 and AIU Circular No. EV/B(449)/94/176915-177115 dated January, 1994.

Eligibility: 10+2 pass (PCM) or equivalent

Admission to the IGNOU-SAPET Engineering programmes is offered through an aptitude test "IGNOU Engineering Aptitude Test" (IGNEAT 2009) to be held during September 6-13, 2009 at the designated centres. It will be conducted in English, Hindi and few other regional languages.

Student Handbook & Prospectus for IGNOU-SAPET Engineering Programmes 2009 can be obtained from School of Engineering and Technology, IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi and various IGNEAT 2009 Test Centres by paying Rs 500/- in cash at the respective sale counters or by sending a sum of Rs 550/-through a Demand Draft (DD) drawn in favour of Indira Gandhi National Open University payable at New Delhi.
