Will the new Lok Pal bill solve the problem of corruption in India?

Will the new Lok Pal bill solve the problem of corruption in India?

The privilege system is anti-democratic.

There is an old saying “You can’t have your cake and eat it too”.

This means is you can either keep the cake (and feel happy that you have it) or enjoy eating it.

Too many people want the privileges.

Anti-corruption has become a fad, a fashion.

If we wish to really reduce corruption, we need more than just a Lok Pal.

Let us try to answer these questions

1) How many Lok Pals will there be ?

2) How many petitions can a single Lok Pal hear/attend in a day ?

3) How many people do you think are suffering from corruption and need redressal ?

4) Why has the citizen of India not been able to fight corruption ?

5) How many cases are lying pending in the courts today ?

6) Is there any reasonable guarantee that a judge will give the correct/fair ruling ?

7) Is the judge subject to the influence of power and corruption ?

8) Is this a valid justification that “I was ordered to do so by my boss/head/chief”

9) If the above is a valid justification, why are people tried for “crimes against humanity” ?

10) Have you heard the old saying “Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely

The fundamental problem lies in the simple fact that power does not lie in the hands of the people.

While people are allowed to vote, this is treated as a mere formality to be carried out, every few years.

Does the Constitution of India, in its present form really empower the citizens of the country ?

Why is there a special act that provides immunity to Judges and Government Employees ?

Some will argue that such immunity is required for a smooth functioning of the system.

Others may argue that, this immunity is equivalent to absolute power, and is responsible for the current pathetic state of affairs in our country.
