Should reservations be permissible in case of economically backward people??
Should they be given seats in institutes as they have no means of taking coachings to clear entrance exams or in case of jobs, may be they don't have enough resources to get themselves a job owing to the nepotism in INDIA..
How can we justify "anti-reservation" for such people???

Well, Poonam - appreciated your comments and inputs I would like to add a few things here-

I don't agree to an extent but yes, we may have financial level based help...

Take for example, getting admission to a premier institution like AIIMS

>> First guy is in reserved category and is well-to-do
>> Second guy is in reserved category, but is not well to do
>> Third guy is in general category, and is not-so-well-off to afford studies.

In the above scenario, the first guy has all facilities of coaching and tuition at his disposal while the second guy can't afford any coaching. Now obviously, to put them at a level playing field (the first two guys), government provides him funds to study (prepare for tests) and books, etc. Now both the guys should be considered competent enough and should not be provided any reservation of seats in a professional institution.

The third guy should also be provided funds to buy books and to take coaching, etc. and he too will be at par.

So we can have a system where the government tries to prepare level playing fields for everyone, no matter to what caste he or she belongs AND it should not provide reservation in seats or jobs.

Obviously, someone who is incompetent to get through an entrance exam should not be provided a seat. How can he be able to match the caliber of fellow students who have worked very hard to get a seat!!!!???!!!

Please comment and press if you like my post.

Well, financial status does matter. However, a backward category poor family and a general category poor family should get the same preference. There is no mechanism to check this. Moreover, when all are considered equal in a democratic society, why is their reservation at all. There can be sponsorship, incentives and other ways for the poor.

However, we need to accept it that rules are made according to convenience. We cant book our leaders as they themselves make rules with deft clauses and sections. The supreme court, last year ruled out any quotas for the creamy layer, saying that those with salary of 2.5 lakh or less per annum can get reservation. A year later, recently the politicians have managed to pass a bill wherein people from backward classes with an annual salary of 4.5 lakhs can avail reservation. A general pool family whose head works in a PSU gets lesser. Is their any reservation for him?

Is their any rationale in the above decision? Is this justified? Isnt it shocking and instigating? It gets even worse when i think, I can't do anything against this, except using some swear words! We need some lawyers to look for wayz out. I am not a specialist on this!

Isnt it pessimistic to think that you cant possibly do anything?? There is no derth of good lawyers, yet we are in such a state...thats only cos the youth feels they cant do anything...Elders werent wrong when they said "THE FUTURE OF A COUNTRY LIES IN ITS YOUTH".

When you have the will power to change,u can...change anything in the world!!

In country like India,,,where most of people are below poverty line...govt is taking loans from the world bank and all are under high pressure of increase in prices of daily things..
most of the students which are now studying are either taking loans or some outsider NRI is helping them,,
IF RESERVATION is made on such ground then my question is

WHOM IS GOING TO SEE WHO IS EARNING HOW MUCH?
WONT IT INCREASE BURDEN ON THE COLLEGES AND OTHER INSTITUTES?
WHO WILL GUARANTEE THAT NO DISCRIMINATION IS MADE ON SUCH GROUNDS?
IF ALL HAVE BAD FINANCIAL STATUS HOW WILL U CATEGORIZE THEM INTO WHAT CATEGORY??
WHAT ABOUT THE GOOD STATUS PERSONS WHERE THEY WILL GO IF ALL SEATS ARE FILLED BY POOR STATUS STUDENTS??
IF COLLEGES ARE FILLED WITH POOR STATUS MEN WHO WILL GUARANTEE THE INSTITUTES THAT THEY WILL PAY THE FEES ON TIME??

what i conclude is it will lead to worst situation in country..All ready states are fighting on financial grounds to give them more aid

after this type of reservation common men of India will fight from this door to that proving there financial status..

Dear friends ,
I am a doctor from aiims ,and i know about the impact of reservation.
It can destroy a young life ,my frnd had committed suicide(1999) when he was unable to make it to aiims inspite his sincere efforts .
I had to suffer reservation injustice ,so much that i left my motherland ..
ab issse zyada aur kea kahun main .

Reservation is bad in all its forms .

It breaches the spirit of democracy which says that all citizen are equal.

It hampers healthy competition.

It promotes incompetence at all levels .

It dismantles motivation levels in employees .

It mentally wrecks students .

In india, with all its financial problems ,our solution to this problem lies in harnessing human resources .

1.promoting emigration .
2.making MOU wth foreign universities for admissions.
3.providing interest free loans to students to study abroad .
4 .instead of financial funding ,education shud be subsidised at all levels .
5 .employment opportunities for young students just like abroad to pay for there education.
6.making education system truly international
7 .removing incompetency by ELIMINATION.

iN A COUNTRY WHERE CBSE EXAM WAS LEAKED IN 2003,AND DONT KNW WEN ?

MERIT ALSO SUCKS,UNRELIABLE CRITERIA.

SAT LIKE EXAM
SCHOLARSHIP APTITUDE TEST CONDUCTED BY SOME INTERNATIONAL AGENCY.

Well, it may sound pessimistic but you have to accept the reality rather than having this sense of over bloated optimism. If you have a solid plan and some strong feelings and opinions on this issue, please chart out a few ways as to how you would like to curb reservations. This would make better sense than picking up quotations and proverb matching the situation!

@ doctor

well, so what are u endorsing? Are you saying that more students should be going to nepal, germany, china and such countries with easy entrance rules. in some countries a 10th pass can get a doc certificate. these are the doctors who kill patients rather than saving them. They are the ones who leave their cell phones, scissors, etc inside the patients stomach and remember it only after stitching back..

I wouls suggest there be more govt run medical colleges as pvt medical colleges charge u heavinly.

more medical colleges
More infrastructure,
more sponsorships,
more scholarships,
more seats,

... 4 lakh students compete for 30,000 seats in medical out of which many are lost to reserved quotas. All these students move to other sectors like management, arts, etc. They dont necessarily do what they are best suited for creating an economic unemloyment gap or stiff competition, which may sometimes be unhealthy. Doctors are in demand. You need them. You cant afford to overwork people. We need better emergency handling and medical facilities. We are ignoring them. We need them. Reservations on financial grounds are thus leaving the govt and country the loser
