Exclamation Official Declaration of Political Intent by Team Anna

Here is the official Declaration of Political Intent by Team Anna:

Today the movement against corruption takes a significant step forward. This movement began by channelizing popular anger against rampant corruption in high places into a positive demand for a new alternative. Last year Anna-ji went on three fasts, including the historic fast at the Ramlila Maidan, to demand a strong, empowered, and independent investigative agency, the Lokpal. The campaign caught popular imagination because people felt that they were no longer helpless. However, despite widespread popular support and parliamentary resolution, the Lokpal was not enacted. We discovered that the ruling parties as well as the opposition lacked political will to create the Lokpal. Yet Anna-ji, Arvind, Manish, Gopal, and hundreds of other krantikaris sat on the current fast in order to appeal to the government one last time. The result was no different. The government stonewalled our demands and showed little interest in bringing those guilty of big scams to book.

This is what brings us to this next step in our struggle. Yesterday 23 eminent citizens called upon us to give up on our expectations from the political establishment and instead focus our energies on creating an alternative political force to address a historic challenge. We asked you all as to whether this proposal is something we should pursue. Your answer was an instant and unequivocal ‘Yes’. That is why we decided to call off our fast and move positively towards creating an alternative political force. This latest move is thus a logical culmination of our struggle that began more than a year ago.

This move is not about capturing power but about changing the nature of state power. Our objective is to provide a political alternative that will be realized through an electoral revolution to democratize and decentralize power, and make the power structures more transparent and more accountable to the people. Our existing structures of governance, designed during the British Raj, are meant to exert control on citizens from the top, rather than provide a service and be accountable to the people. This needs to change. We need to accordingly reform and restructure our legislative, executive, administrative, judicial and policing institutions.

At this stage we begin with no more than a broad vision and some guiding principles. Some 2300 years ago Ashokan edicts had called for a moral, social and administrative revolution through respect for all living beings, compassion for the less fortunate and public transparency in government. His call has echoed through the millennia and rings loudest today. The values enshrined in our Constitution and the dream of Swaraj that was nurtured by our freedom struggle encapsulates our vision of India.

Specifically we believe in:
  •  Democracy, where power is proximate to, consultative with and under the final control of the people;
  •  Freedom from arbitrary use of state or collective power as well as from fear and basic needs;
  •  Equality of opportunities and key outcomes, so that anyone’s wellbeing is not at the expense of others or nature;
  •  Social justice, whereby the well being of the last person comes first and life chances are not determined by accidents of birth;
  •  Secularism, that involves recognition of and respect for social and religious diversity and special needs of minority communities; and
  •  Peace in internal and external relations.
These are valuable but very general principles. We would like to work these out more fully in terms of concrete policies and positions in the course of the next few months. We need to understand the concerns, needs and aspirations of our citizens and the experience of various movements prior to us before we formulate a comprehensive policy statement.

Realization of this vision requires a new kind of political instrument. Usually this instrument is assumed to be a political party. Yet the prevailing form of a political party is not suited for this purpose. Almost all existing political parties are top-down organisations, claiming monopoly of truth, undemocratic and non-transparent in their functioning, controlled by a family or a clique and dependent on large amounts of illicit funds. An alternative political force has to search for an alternative to this dominant form of a political party. We would strive to learn from the rich experience of social and political movements that have attempted to create alternative politics in the electoral and non-electoral domain.

We realize that we have embarked upon a long, difficult and exciting journey. Since the whole point of the journey is to change the rules of the game, its outcome cannot be measured by conventional yardstick of ‘success’ and ‘failure’. We need to evolve our own measure as we go along.

We plan the following initial steps in this long journey: a nation-wide ‘Swaraj yatra’, to spread our message, to learn from the people, to connect to our friends and well-wishers and discover new allies; youth dialogues across the country, especially in universities and colleges; and national consultation with other organizations and movements.

If this movement has advanced so far, it is only because of your support. The future of this next phase depends on your participation. This movement needs your ideas, your time, your energy and your resources. Please reply below with your comments and we shall forward it in a consolidated manner for further discussions and action.

Please SHARE this everywhere you can to ensure maximum response from Indians across the globe!

Thank you dear patriots,

Team Anna

I heard this speech carefully and gone with declaration too and now i am sure with this transparency and political acumen, this is first great leap toward giving a wholesome solution to the Indian. Alternate political solution by this movement is the best fruit ever to happen with this movement. let me suggest few critical element to this:
1) Please maintain a high degree of discipline to talk to media and let us assure only nominated person would be talking to the media.
2) Let this party should reach to all villages, town and metro of India and create a strong political machinery with strong value system with frame work of its own charter.
3) Involve all walks of society with equal opportunity and with merit. create a team of expert from all possible expertise to deal with specific issue and come out open once you got the best solution.
4) Create an strong political infrastructure.
5) Get ready to answer all possible problem as nation is facing and its solution.

All the best to all of us for the new begining....

Advice for your political party

Sir, i applaud your teams decision to become a political party. Though, i am not much believer of anti-corruption but i am fed of the political system of India and the way they take decision related to running our country. I want to advice you certain things regarding your party formation and to be followed which i hope you would take into consideration.
First of all make a draft of rules to be followed for once your team members are elected to be an MP, like everyone contesting elections should have achieved something in their life (e.g. no criminal case, some kind of work done to make India proud, it can be winning a medal or an honour at international level.) Also, qualification shouldn't be an issue as sometimes illiterate people are more sincere and intelligent than who have studied. But at centre only people with highest form of studies should be asked to lead.
Secondly, only corruption is not an issue in India, basic amenities, welfare, security are also an issue among many others. So make your committees on those issues, take feedback and try to find a solution to it.
Third, stop making those stupid mistakes in media, once you say something stick to it and please stop making stupid comments. Just stick to what you believe in and what you need to do.
Fourth, collect funds in front of media, you will need funds and you will easily get it if you invite media to telecast your funds or audit them from time to time otherwise the politicians will make sure it will be under scrutiny and in controversy.
Fifth, i have worked in government offices and one thing i learned best is that when someone says something it means nothing, you can also deny it but if you write something, it means everything.
Sixth, you need people who are good at playing with words instead of ones you have there on the stage saying one thing today and then retracting them again next day.
If you think these are valid points, i can give you few more recommendations.
Thank you for coming into politics but hopefully you will last long enough among them for making a change in our country.

Full Credit on this Initial Statement. We are amply excited.

No doubt,the above political statement amply reveals ur political acumen and vision to serve this beautiful country in every plausible fantastic way possible..congratulations..
Moreover,just forward these points to Kejriwal sir an alike and let them reflect on it:

Aspirations of a commoner from IAC

1)engage the public to the max:
I think u know this the best.use social network to invite public opinion on any and every policy perspective.donot go ahead without taking up public poll on any matter henceforth.u see,u need to make urself approachable.
2)party charter:
Bring out an open/transparent charter for iac party.let ppl know that the constitution of this party is supreme.that no 1 will be spared if found indulging in any unethical act after getting iac membership.make things crystal clear for new members tat the road changes for them starting just today..
3)party framework:
Ofcourse,the party frame work must be a strongly democratic one.no godfathers no bosses inside the party upfront.make a proforma of procedures within the party such tat posts inside like spokesperson,general secretary,president etcetra will be filled up only by voting by its members in a democratic way.such avoting will take place every 2yr inside the party so that none of the office bearers thinks tat its their family holding,letunderperformers be crushed depending on the public mood and concensus from time to time.No doubt Md Ali was a great boxer,but he had to give way to new generation wen his time was up..let professionalism creep in to ur party from day 1...remember that the idea and heat/excitement generated by iac party may die out if public gets disillussioned by a new pariwarvaad/bhai bhatijawaad/favouritism/regionalism/casteism..etc inside the party... rise above..let newmembers get selected..let the kejriwals bhusans and bedis nurture this party thru its nascency,and let new selected members vote openly and select them if they consider them as their mentors...i am sure ,we all know their sacrifices,but professionalism has no room for emotions...let new members select them by voting if they so really deserve..they will surely come to the helm..this will make it clear that the iac party wants democratic pillars to achieve its goals..no bosses upfront..
5)take an all india test:
To select contestants,u need to put a test(application fee say 100/-) based on ethics,morality,indias history,polity,geography,economy,etc...whatever may be needed so as to select sum1 who is fully aware about india and its deserving populace(not essentially mathematical or science wizard)..he can be one amongst us.that shud be the motto..only then can u draw crowds to vote for u..do u know..why do we love n respect our IAS/IPS/DOCTORS/IITIANS/IIM graduates so much?simply bcz each one of us have at some point of time in life ,failed in either of those exams..only that is the reason why we respect an ias officer..so u have to create that respect for ur candidates by allowing all of india to sit for that test,and then selecting top 2000ranks on general category sans any quotas otherwise u again risk factioning/dividing this india..make it crystal clearto th epopulation that we are here to break the shackles of not just corruption but also casteism/nepotism/regionalism/favouritism..,say to form the core membership of that party..
6)conclusion:
once u begin ur day with this party on these lines,u will see tat u have got candidates having expertise in diverse fields...and wen tat bcums a reality..u r party will b like a technocratic symbol across the globe wherein health ministry will comprise of doctors,it/telecom minosters will comprise of engineers/journalist majors will don the information broadcasting ministry and top law grads will deal law ministry,so on and so forth..such will be the expertise of ur party that india will transform at breathtaking speeds every minute to the ticking clock..that is what we indians have been dreaming for all these years...pls make this a reality...
And in the end,let no member be above the party constitution as enshrined,let every one uphod its legacy at all times..bring abt such aparty charter n let ppl know...we shall definitely usher in a new and novel democratic society that this world will envy...
Lastly,donot worry abt funds for fighting elections.u wont need money in sucha transparentsystem.every 1 will love to vote 4 u in exchange of no gain...just do it..open an iac party fund ..ask ppl to contry 10/20/50/100 per month and every one wud want to cooperate if the idea is so basic and unique..just keep the fundamentals straight...kip track of income and expenses..make it open for all to see on facebuk so that ppl know how u r spending and all..
U know how to win hearts...be approachable..be one amongst the masses..only then this population will connect with u above caste lines...
Long live the Great Indian Dream...
Thank You.
-Dr Decibel.

But then u risk alienating,much of the chunk of an elecrorate who hv been away from bjp 4 last 50 yrs..the cause and the approach ought to be a risk proof one..u cannot risk playing a strategy bcz we need a new ideology alltogether..a party above party lines..an ideology that india has never imagined before..a process wich is inclusive for all..n tat can happen only if a new strategising team cums up...u cannt guarantee if ppl will support bjp or not..

Gen VK Singh
Gen VK Singh rightly said: why we adore n love ourarmy..bcz the basic tenets/fundamentals on wich army is based teaches not 2 differentiate btween one another,thereby making it caste/creed/religious resistant...tat makes Indian Army a forceto reckon with..let us learn something from this man who minces no words in speaking boldest truths..take a bow General..

Lead by Example
There are a few points that have been brought up at different times and should form the core of the party.
*. Decentralization of power in the party
*. Open culture to debate on every topic in a democratic way
*. Ownership in groups
The party should focus on the following:
*. Work on the ground to improve living conditions of people - education, health, other basic necessities. This would help the people in the party understand the ground realities better.Demonstrations for local issues, promoting localcommunities to solve local problems, etc.
*. Contesting elections should be a secondary concern. If the primary concern in working on the ground, its easier to connect with people.
*. Do not build a party of only elitists. The country'slarger population is non-elitists. Their problems, concerns, needs are not always understood very well by the elitists. Their presence in the party in a big way would help represent their thoughts well.
*. There are people working tirelessly on the ground in small villages, cities to make people self-reliant, improve their life conditions. The party should work with such people and focus some energies on bringing them in the party.
*. Form specific expert groups within the party in different fields. For example, finance, agriculture, power, transport, health, education, technology, etc. They will find out how certain problems are dealt with in other countries, states, cities and if they can be applied to other areas. They will also help initiate discussions on topics that need attention. They will bring facts which will help discussions be driven by real information that fiction. They will also analyze government policies in their respective areas.
*. Social media is a good way to find people's opinion/mood on the topic. But the reach is really limited to urban youth. While youth would be a big part of the movement, the elderly can bring in valuable experience about a lot of things. Moreover, the party and movement needs to reach rural areas. So, social media should be used to spread the message but this can't be the only way. This should be further helped by committed people in areas where these are not used a lot.
*. There have been talks of Gram sabha, mohalla sabha, etc to elicit opinions and understand people's perspectives. The party should show themodel for this. It should start this within the party for discussions. It should also organize some such gatherings in villages and mohallas and show models for how problems can be solved easily with these approaches.

i am with iac on this and we need to think of ways to strengthen politics:-
1.we should try to include all the educated grade aofficers ,ias officers in our fight.
2.corruption is in the roots of not only parliaments but the common man has also become a part of it...we young guns r always with anti-corruption..show us the right path with ur experience..YOUTH IS ALWAYS WITH U.WE WANT THE CHANGE..
3.SIR,plz include honest experienced offficers withu.
