Is there only one Arvind?

Arindam Choudhry has in the New Sunday Express lamented that there is only one Arvind Kejriwal and it is not just possible for one person to lead the vast Indian masses. It would seem he has not given allowance for any number of people who are ready to sink with Arvind if they have to, people who will vote his candidates, people who will stand behind him, people who sympathize with him etc.

Middle class, as a generic group, is usually given to lethargy when it has to do anything outside their jobs or businesses. A significant number of them do not bother to vote. Those who do vote do not vote with passion; they do it because they consider it their duty and also because they do not want someone else robbing of their right to vote. Voting patterns among them would always reveal that a considerable number of them do not have permanent affiliations to any political party.

If you take it upon yourself to probe their reluctance to vote, you are more likely to learn that they are disillusioned with the whole political class.

In the past few years, IAC has managed to breathe fresh air into the political vacuum the middle class found itself in. People of middle class have, almost to one, decided - though it is not overtly discernible - that IAC could just be thing that could change the political realm for the better. This writer asked almost 2,000 people who voiced this opinion.

It is for the IAC to galvanize their flagging spirits and lend a focus. This is where the "other" Arvinds should come forward.

As it, Arvind does not mean an individual named Arvind. When you say Kejriwal, people always visualize Arvind, Bhushans, Mayank Gandhi, Saiza ilimi, Gopal Rai and the others in the forefront. They are all equal in people's perception. They are convinced that there is true democracy within IAC. It is just that Arvind is the first among the equals. With so many "leaders", we can not say there is only one Kejriwal.

There are thousands of 'mini' Kerjiwals located across the country who may not be members of IAC but are actively spreading the message of IAC and its future potentials though they are not sure how it is all going to unfold.

For instance, I am an IAC member by virtue of joing this website. However, I am not physically engage in the activities of the local chapter of IAC. But, I make it a point to spread the message.

The game plan is no known to non-members as well as members, but they are sure it will all fall in to place over time, in time for the hustings in which IAC will be a contender. These are the leaders that are emerging to be the ambassadors of IAC. Their numbers are increasing by the day. If rightly handled, they will work out to be leaders as well volunteers, a prospect that is eminently sensible but exciting at the same time.

So onwards Kejriwals, God speed to you.
