LETTER OF THE EDITOR OF "THE TIMES OF INDIA " TO
THE PRIME MINISTER OF INDIA

I am born and brought up in Mumbai for last fifty eight years. Believe me, corruption in Maharashtra is worse than that in Bihar . Look at all the politicians, Sharad Pawar, Chagan Bhujbal, Narayan Rane, Bal Thackray , Gopinath Munde, Raj Thackray, Vilasrao Deshmukh all are rolling in money. Vilasrao Deshmukh is one of the worst Chief ministers I have seen. His only business is to increase the FSI every other day,
make money and send it to Delhi , so Congress can fight next election. Now the clown has found new way and will increase FSI for fishermen, so they can build concrete houses right on sea shore. Next time terrorists can comfortably live in those houses, enjoy the beauty of the sea and then attack our Mumbai at their will.

Recently, I had to purchase a house in Mumbai. I met about two dozen builders. Everybody wanted about 30% in black. A common person like me knows this and with all your intelligent agency & CBI, you and your finance ministers are not aware of it. Where all the black money goes? To the underworld isn't it? Our politicians take help of these goondas to vacate people by force. I myself was victim of it. If you have time
please come to me, I will tell you everything.

If this has been a land of fools, idiots, then I would not have ever cared to write to you this letter. Just see the tragedy. On one side we
are reaching moon, people are so intelligent; and on the other side, you politicians have converted nectar into deadly poison. I am everything
Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Schedule caste, OBC, Muslim OBC, Christian Schedule caste, and Creamy Schedule caste; only what I am not is
INDIAN. You politicians have raped every part of Mother India by your policy of divide and rule.

Take example of our Former President Abdul Kalam. Such an intelligent person; such a fine human being. But you politician didn't even spare him and instead choose a worthless lady who had corruption charges and insignificant local politician of Jalgaon WHO'S NAME ENTIRE COUNTRY HAD NOT HEARD BEFORE. Its simple logic your party just wanted a rubber stamp in the name of president. Imagine SHE IS SUPREME COMMANDER OF INDIA 'S THREE DEFENCE FORCES. What moral you will expect from our defence forces ? Your party along with opposition joined hands, because politicians feel they are supreme and there is no place for good person.

Dear Mr Prime minister, you are one of the most intelligent persons, a most learned person. Just wake up, be a real SARDAR. First and
foremost, expose all selfish politicians. Ask Swiss banks to give names of all Indian account holders. Give reins of CBI to independent
agency. Let them find wolves among us. There will be political upheaval, but that will be better than dance of death which we are
witnessing every day. Just give us ambiance where we can work honestly and without fear. Let there be rule of law. Everything else will be taken care of.

Choice is yours Mr. Prime Minister. Do you want to be lead by one person, or you want to lead the nation of 100 Crore people?

Cool Media has vested interests in creating controversies

The world cup kept them busy and they encahsed it to the hilt. Anna Hazare's movement gave them enough fodder to keep them going. Per chance they also served a cause--a noble cause at that in as much as they kept people duly informed and charged up. But now, with the government having fallen in line, the media needed a dead horse to keep flogging. They had their TRP to worry about. IPL wasn't doing much for them. People are overfed on cricket. They are cloyed. But the fight against corruption provided a constant supply of fodder. Committee was formed with prominent and largely acceptable persons. Some people including Baba Ramdev felt Kiran Bedi could also have been there, though it was not an issue with any one, not even with Baba Ramdev. It was an innocuous observation because a media person asked him. Instead of taking this remark on its face value, the media persons made it look like a controversial statement by saying that Baba was 'outraged' or was 'aggrieved' or things to that effect. If for a while Kiran Bedi or Swami Agnivesh were not seen on the pulpit, conclusions were drawn that they were upset or there was a division in ranks of the Civil Society when there was or is no such thing. Even the clarification of Baba Ramdev and Kiran Bedi was not put forth properly by the media persons simply because they want this to emerge as a controversy and people remain glued to their news channels and their TRP keeps rising. This is the worst side-effect of liberalization/globalization. People need to guard against this tendency of the media. They are selling their rotten wares at our cost. People who support Anna Hazare and his movement against corruption are satisfied that things are in good hands. Media needn't worry a great deal about it. In a press conference Anna Hazare appreciated the development works done by Nitish Kumar and Narendra Modi. Now media is out to create another controversy. Media is indeed a watchdog and fourth pillar. We the people should also watch out for the black sheep who are on the loose.

Fully agreed with sinha ji and Prakash Bajaj. The problem is the moment politicians are elected they stop thinking that they are servant and public is master. They behave as if they are master and public is slave. Administrative efficiency is eroding over period of time.

I consider 4 points to judge a government - Transparency, Responsiveness, cost-effectiveness, Availability

A government must be available all the time to it's citizens. It must be be responsive once problem is known, it's services must be cost-effective and affordable and the last is public delivery and administration must be transparent.

I wish, if our leaders adopt at least two of these, remaining may fall automatically.

We need to drill some sense in the politicians

If there is one thing this movement has done to the politicians, it is the growing realization amongst them that in order to remain relevant in the political terra firma they must respond to the aspirations of people. The only thing that should concern us or those reposing faith in the movement is the sustainability of this spirit. Politicians would not abdicate the place of authority and power they enjoy. They have always seen themselves as the masters of the country. Suddenly, someone comes from nowhere and shows them their rightful place. They have not taken kindly to it. Therefore, there is an undeclared war on this movement. Arvind Kejriwal has rightly observed that these people will put up many road blocks. They will have to be fought at every nook and corner. We need to gird up our loins for a prolonged war. We have won only a battle. The war is just about begun. And mind you, they will not engage you directly. They will indulge in guerilla warfare. Hit and run will be their tactic. I call it 'political insurgency'. What Kapil Sibal said and did will fall in this category of 'political insurgnecy'. We should be ready for many of these without losing our calm or composure.

What you have written is cent percent correct. Its high time, that we should stop corruption and impliment new laws. In past years all have said system will not going to change, but with this bill, I am sure even if doesn't change completely but it will tend to change.

Yes Sibal may be correct in quoting, this bill will not bring development, but what it will do? It will bring scam under scrutiny, not only that, It will also compensate the fraud money also, which inturn can be use for better development of the country. Why don't Mr. Sibel think as that. Just see the spectrum scam and cwg scam. The money which they have stoled, dont you think if it have been used for the development of the states, then picture of each state will be a lot different.

Remember Jaiprakash Narayan

Remember the" Sampoorn Kranti" hero Shri Shri Jaiprakash Narayan ji. The present effort of anti-corruption or change of the system is only a beginning. Only notifications and assurances have come forth. Nothing is served yet in your plate. Shri Jaiprakash Narayan had overturned the table of invincible Congress in 1977 and brought a dream party "Janata Party" to govern our country with a new and juicy setup. What happened to the "total revolution" of Shri Jai prakash Narayan? That so-called clean government collapsed in 2 and 1/2 years. I remember a dialogue in a film "Aakhiri Raasta" of Amitabh Bachchan. A dialogue by Sadashiv Amrapurkar while attempting to molest the heroin who was pleading with Lord Krishna to rescue her. Quote:- Woh Krishna bhagwan Mahabharat mein aaye the, iss Bharat mein nahi aayenge (the Lord Krishna had come in Mahabharat of that time, he will not come in this Bharat)

It was the ego of the leaders that brought down the government. There were far too many leaders then and all of them were politicians who always carry their own axes which they keep grinding whenever they get an opportunity. Fortunately, we are keeping the politicians out of it. But of course we cannot shut the political shops altogether. Over reliance on bureaucrats and judiciary will also not be good for the country. There has to be a proper mix. In the mix we have presently, there is not much of a problem except for the fact that quality people are not at the helm. Through the institution of Lokpal that we the Civil Society have proposed we may be able to set things right to a very large extent and that will in essence be the achievement.
