Prasant Bhushan & Kashmir Issue

If we call ourselves democrats, we must be democratic enough to tolerate views that are not to our liking. Unless there is divergence of views, how can you arrive at the right stand on any issue? We proudly declare that we have unity in diversity. And here we are, we cannot tolerate a divergent view. What Prashant Bhushan did was he expressed his view on a topic that is regarded by many as sensitive. We say Kashmir is an integral part of India. Fine. Why are we tolerating that part of Kashmir which is under Pakistani occupation? Let India rise as one and bring back that part where China is making its presence felt. Its not enough just to declare that it is an integral part of India. We must be ready to integrate it with India. Can we honestly say we will be able to do that? USA had the guts to enter Pakistan and kill Osama Bin Laden. Can we do anything of that kind?

And just because Bhushan is part of Team Anna, has he ceased to be individual with a mind of his own? We are living in 21st century when the whole world is progressively getting squeezed into one ball, and here we are beating up an individual for expressing his views. Glasnost, perestroika, liberalization and globalization have brought all of us together and instead of finding what Wordsworth called 'similitude in dissimilitude' we are just doing the opposite by finding 'dissimilitude in similitude'. There is need to take a re-look at ourselves.

Further I will like to make a humble request before team Anna not to make statement on any issue other than corrupiton."

I do agree with Mr. Sinha that we are democrats. But all your quotes are relevant to the likes of prashant and others of his stature not for the poor people burning with patriotism. A soldier who has fought or fighting separatists in J & K or who have bore the brunts of extremism will never subscribe to this point of view and his reaction may be violent. It is very easy to comment on TV shows and air your opinion from AC rooms.
An example : If the killers of Rajiv are forgiven Sonia and her kids may be eulogised because they do not have to suffer the ignoniminy which the other innocent people killed are suffering. There are families which lost their bread earners-what about them?

Please, for god sake. Do not burn, not even with patriotism. When you burn, it burns everything. Just because Prashant expressed himself, did our patriotism become so fragile that it had to express itself so violently? What happens to our patriotism when 90% or more of us go corrupt? Don't tell me that only politicians and bureaucrats/corporate people are corrupt. If we were clean enough, India would not have faced these many problems it is facing today. Where majority of people are ready and willing to sell the country if only they get an opportunity, any talk of burning with patriotism is ludicrous. There is an old saying and it is a quote: "you get the government you deserve." We are in the august months of festivals and look at the patriots all around us:selling poisoned sweets, poisoned vegetables, dubious medicines and what not. Those burning with patriotism have not left anything in this part of the world pure and fit for consumption. And they do not give quotes from their AC chambers and yet they are selling us lock, stock and barrel, and they will not hesitate to sell everything that India stands for. Where is the patriotism here? Its only a question of who gets the opportunity. Poor Prashant Bhushan only expressed which need not be accepted by anyone. But why thrash him? After all he did not like Kalmadi, Laloo, Raja and others gormandize national wealth. They can lead a happy life, yes even in jail. But Prashant has to be thrashed and even Kejriwal has to be warned. True democrats, aren't we?

It is quiet unfortunate that Prashant Bhushan , the leading member has faced direct attack for his statement on Kashmir issue...Being possessing a democratic citizenship, every Indian has the right to put forward his/her opinion about any issues related to his country....
At the same time , we wish the team Anna members should be carefull while making these type of statements as these will provoke some having different views of the matter...As we are keeping a clear and ambitious aim in our mind, plz be carefull in making statements which will deviate the public from our core dream......Jai Bharat matha....

Yes, restraint is the word. They need to be more restrained in their comments knowing as they do that a whole lot of people are out with scanners to find faults with them so that the movement spearheaded by Anna is derailed. The most powerful are after their blood because if the corruption is actually tackled the way it is proposed to be tackled, then these people will become wholly jobless. They have tasted the blood. They would not like to be deprived of it now and anyone trying to do the same will face various kinds of obstacles. That is why Anna has declared that he is ready for bullet too. But not many can have the courage of Anna. So, restraint is the key. Like Arjun we remain focussed on the eye of the fish and not allow ourselves to be distracted. Kiran Bedi too should take note of it and avoid those TA bills.
