Thumbs up Is the Parliament supreme ???

For those who say that the Parliament (including all parties) is supreme, think about the following points:

1- This parliament has 4 ministers in Jail and 150 ministers indicted in criminal charges

2- The Parliament has not passed a single Private Member’s Bill in 43 years, 97% of the Private member’s bill have never been debated in the parliament. Anna’ team and the people of India have the constitutional right to ask for their version of the bill to be produced and debated

3- The Government was the last one after 6 years and 140 countries to ratify the UN Resolution {article 68 (1)} against Corruption, the delay showing complete lack of intention to fight corruption

4- The PM having promised that he would take steps to bring back the Black Money in 100 days before the last elections, has not only failed to do so but also found it unnecessary to even communicate or explain the reasons thereof

So Parliament is not supreme – the People are !

What do you say ???

Talking Reference of Lokpal Bill to Standing Committee

The Parliament Standing committee is a big Farce and Hog Wash. It is only recommendatory in nature. The Bill may not be still passed. It is delay tactics. If Parliament was 'Supreme' then whatever the standing committee recommends must be taken as gospel truth. But that is not the case. On eight occassions the Parliament Standing Committee on Defence has recommended that One Rank One Pension (OROP) be given to the Defence personnel. On all times the Govt of the day as well as the bureaucracy has been able to scuttle the recommendations and deny the armed forces OROP. Even the President of India in her opening address to both the houses of Parliament had said that OROP should be considered for the armed forces but to date nothing has happenned. So where are we and what democracy are we talking of. In India there is only BUREAUCRACY AND CORRUPTION and Man Mohan Singh is the biggest and highest bureaucrat.

once upon a time it was eligible to accept as supreme both in the eyes of constitution and in general but not any more.reason is 60% percent of the members of that august house are booked on one or the other criminal case.i want to ask the out standing parliamentarian awardee mr,somnath chatterji how he felt when he as a speaker of that august house preached oath to a criminal like pappu yadav as a member of that supreme house.are the few left over mr, cleans who are beaten morally and scattered in different parties not worried about the sanctity of that august house which they want the people of this country to acknowledge as supreme?.mr left over cleans of this august house please note that history will not forgive for handing over this house on a platter to the criminals to occupy for the sake of political vendetta and hungry for power.please bear in mind this house was once occupied by the citizens of impeccable integrity who got elected as member umpteen times without spending a penny and not even leaving their home for vociferous campaign as their service to people was speaking for it self.the house is supreme but the occupants are injurious to people.

who is responsible for politicians being corrupted

Who is responsible for politicians being corrupted or whom to be blamed for this situtation. It is none other than we the people. One simple question to all those who are against corruption, whether a bribe, favour, gratitude, etc can be received without a giver. Atleast one percent of people who are supporting anna's anticorruption movement can affirm that they have not paid or received bribe (money, black tickets, to traffic constable for violating law, to peons, favour, etc). It is a known fact that during elections many people who are taking part in this movement has received money, material, liquor, etc from the politicians and voted for them. Even today if we go for elections the same thing will be repeated. Nothing comes for free, during elections if they (politicians) pay you for votes after elections they will take it back from you with interest. So for an effective society not only for corruption the change has to come from the people truely. If eveyone of us who are against corruption take a oath that we will not pay or accept bribe in any form then automatically everything will change even without Janlokpal bill. Receiver cannot exist without a giver.

Is Parliament Supreme?

The Parliamentary form of Govt in India has failed to deliever. Statics can prove that. Apart from mis governance there is rampant corruption. The people of this country need to take a holoistic view as to what type of governance we want. The governors are ineffective and more of rubber stamps. The President is more of a ceremonial appointment. India spends lot of time and public money on elections starting from municipal elections way up to Lok Sabha.
The LOKPAL and LOKAYUKTA should replace the President and Governors of States. Let people be accountable as per the Jan Lokpal proposed Bill.
We should shift to 'Presidential' form of Govt. Now is the time to make changes and bring new legislation so that we have experts in the field and not like a Joint Secy from FCI being posted in Ministry of Defence.
