This is an excellent idea. A platform for those who feel that enough is enough and something needs to be done about corruption in India. The crucial point is - why there is so much corruption in our country? The answer is not simple. Here are a few we all may be already aware of:

(1) Lack of fear of punishment for the corrupt. In other words, no fear for the rule of law or rather laws are very lax.
(2) Delivery of justice goes on and on and there is only a spectacle(tamasha) either in the media or in the public forums. In the end nothing happens and the corrupt gets away easily.
(3) Lack of moral values in our society. Our children have no sense of pride because they everyday see their members of the family doing wrong and wrong doing becomes a habit. They rather take pride in wrong doing.
(4) Gross inequality in our society in India.Farmers committing suicides and Ambanis making mansions and buying jets as gift.
(5) Material gains as a yardstick of success in our lives, propagated by market capitalism and corporate culture prevailing in India.
(6)After Mahatma Gandhi, people in this country are waiting for a role model half as good as him.No one in sight as yet.
(7)Greed is good, root of most evils in any society,is rapidly becoming hallmark of the Indian society.
(8) Raag Darbaari: Promoting sycophancy, nepotism, cronyism, casteism all are signs of a backward and corrupt society which create division and we all know that a fractured country cannot succeed because talent and honesty will take a backseat.Entry through backdoor will become prevalent
(9) Politicians are one of us, any society will choose the politician on the collective mentality of its electorate. In other words, it will help if each one of us looked at our own image in the mirror first thing in the morning and asked a simple question: Am I corrupt?

Very well said, Kumarp. All points well taken. My reservation is only on choosing of politicians. You or I do not have much of a choice. In the election system that we have, you or I hardly have a choice. We have A B C & D candidates. All are debauches; all are criminals. Who do u choose? If u r very duty conscious, you will choose the least corrupt. Ideally, you would have wanted to have a candidate of impeccable integrity. But you cannot have that simply because a man of impeccable integrity would not have enough money to fight an election and even if he manages money, he would not be able to give you freebees that an MK and a Jaya will give. So, let's make up our mind: after tackling corruption, we will set our course on election so that the likes of those that we encounter everyday in our life are weeded out at the inception itself. Tall order! But we must gird up our loins for that. Imagine, Dhoni hitting a sixer and getting crores and crores and our own Anna Hazare before whom even thousands of Dhonis will be a dwarf is squatting at Jantar Mantar to draw the attention of the government while Dhoni is felicitated by the president for bringing that World Cup that is not going to rid us of our miseries wrought by corruption.

I fully agree with the comments of Kumarp. However I feel that all of us also have to discipline ourselves and take a vow not to give bribe to any one whatever the consequences. If such solid determination is there among the people Politicians or officials can not resort to corruption.
For example if a traffic police books us for traffic violation we should rather appear in court and pay the fees than try to bribe the cop to avoid the nuisance of going to court etc. Similarly for any of our requirement with any authority we should resolve not give bribe and face the consequences of vengeful behaviour of those corrupt officials.

It is easy to say but difficult to follow as we are used to corruption in every day life but must make a humble beginning

We can fight corruption both from the top and the bottom. It is really heartening to see so many youngsters rising to the clarion call of Annaji.Hope people start valuing richness of thoughts and ideas rather than flaunting material wealth..

Smile Quality people and quality leaders

At present our electoral system is so heavily loaded in favour of money wielding persons that it is well-nigh impossible for quality people to surface. And if they will not surface, we will not be able to elect them. That is why we have to target electoral system after we have tackled corruption. Baba Ramdev has done some spadework. Hope it works. Then perhaps we shall have some good leaders. But then, again, the responsibility of keeping leaders under check will be ours. We have to stop being sycophantic. We too easily begin to kowtow before those who command power and money. For that we need to change our own character as well. We must learn to differentiate between need and greed. We do not really need too much to lead a normal human life. This realization is necessary for making life less complex. We have to create a better society, and from there we shall have better people, better leaders. We say 'man is a social animal'. What will remain of him if we remove the adjective 'social'? "Man is an animal'. Since we are engaged in quality discussion, I thought it advisable to say all this.

Well said!!

This is the time to exhibit our solidarity. Let us show ourselves that we can unite for purposes other than sports and movies. It is the time to act. The Middle East is fighting against autocracy, let us fight against anarchy!! THIS IS THE HAZARE REVOLUTION!!!!
