A Past Story for Present day India

Dears,

The current state of Fight against corruption reminds me about a story related to Sree Ramakrishna Paramahamsa.

One day a lady went to the Ashram of Sree Ramakrishna to get blessing and also to tell him about the difficulties that she was facing. After expressing her respect towards Ramakrishna, the lady started telling him the difficulties she was facing in her life. It was mainly about her son and the habit of the child's excessive intake of jaggery. After thinking for a while, the great Sanyasin of our near past, told the lady to come after some days to get a remedy from him.

After some days, the lady went again to the Ashram. This time, Sree Ramakrishna told the lady how to tackle the issue. It is now well known that why Sree Ramakrishna advised the lady to come after some days, during her first visit. Sree Ramakrishna himself was having the same habbit of eating jaggery !!!- and he corrected it.

It is imperative to have this readiness to correct ourselves, before correcting others. No one takes his/her birth as saints or sage but it is attained through his/her deeds. To clean the floor of a house, the broom should be clean (at least). It doesn't mean that only saints are eligible to criticize the corruption in public life. We need to imbibe more values in our personal life from the life of Sree Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda and like personalities to get more energy to fight evils, which our nation is facing in our times.

Regards
Jayakumar.
