Hi folks,
In an increasingly materialistic world, it is too much to expect great leaders to come up in our current political milieu. Most of us standing against corruption from the civil society are also not quite paragons of virtue. We need systemic solutions. We need to make: (i) the cost of wrong-doing in public space very high, much, much higher than the benefits (for example, life imprisonment or even capital punishment in extreme cases), (ii) the probability of punishment very high, and (iii) the speed of punishment rapid too. If we need to have a re-look at some of the basic tenets of our legal system (e.g., the notion that "a 1000 culprits can escape, but one innocent should not be punished",... at least in public space, with some intelligently crafted balances; e.g., anyone who gives/ instigates false complaints about public servants with ulterior motives could also be made suffer similar punishments). Tough in deed, since the politicians and legal fraternity will resist it very hard. Even many others who are neutral will find it hard to accept, due to our mindsets. But if we do succeed, 2 things will happen: (i) Those who come into public space to benefit personally will find it unattractive and so will go elsewhere, and (ii) The public spirited people will find it easier to enter, with the entry barriers having been knocked off. Till we accomplish the above 3 substantially, we'll continue to remain where we are. It will be a case of "cop and the thieves", the cops being the public spirited and the thieves being those who misuse power. Ganesan. :~( |

Dear Members,
It seems very nice to read out the views of you and hope day by day the awareness of the rights will increase. But we should not forget that there are some duties of ours also.
Politicians are ever ready to break the Laws any where and the examples are there you can see during UP elections.Whether this is Salman,Baini Parsad or now we hv seen how Rahul has broken the same. Also you are aware of the 2G Scam,CWG-2010 scam and many more where the leaders in power grabs the public money fearlessly. This happens only in India because these leaders never think for the upliftment of the poors of this country. These political leaders who remains in power so far are very clever and used the poors only as a vote bank. Also to divide the votes they allow in our country to make a large numbers of political parties. Now the scenario in this situation is that a leader is being selected even having 10% votes of the total. How honestly he will serve you and this country, you can imagine. Now it is the need of the day to come forward to let them aprise by your demands/rights and to get them fulfilled. If they don't you hv the right to of rejection.Use this and choose best from the worst. Finally,I would like to say here that "Bina roye Maan bhi doodh nahi pilati hai." Make a huge cry about your rights and let the leaders to bent down to do the development in your areas. |
