Dear Friends,

IMHO, if any of us were politicians, we may have been as bad. Just as there a few good politicians, just a few of us may not have been as bad.

So, I feel, if we create a rigorous system of strict accountabikity, they (and the bureaucracy) will behave themselves. The price to pay for being corrupt must be very high, the certainty of being punished must be high, and the speed of making it happen must be reasonably rapid.

In that case, only those who have genuine interest of the society will come to politics and bureaucracy.

Of course, having come to occupy their positions there, the politicians are not allowing reforms, in their vulgar selfish interests. If we were there, perhaps most of us may have been behaving likewise. We should fight this system tooth and nail and make reforms (police, electoral, judicial, political, etc.) happen.

The iron is now reasonably hot, with the concerted efforts of the CAG, Higher Judiciary, a few in the bureaucracy (we may not even know them), Dr. Swamy, Baba Ramdev, and of course, our own Anna. If we don't make it happen now, we don't know how many more decades it will take.
